U9-U10 Rules

U9-U10 RVFC Rules & Guidelines

● BALL SIZE 4
● DURATION
- Two (25) minutes with a five minute
Half time break
● 7V7(6 FIELD PLAYERS 1 GOALKEEPER)
● NO HEADERS
● NO slide tackling
● YES corner kicks
● YES goal kicks
● YES offsides will be called
● Coaches Responsibilities
-The coach is responsible for teaching skills and strategy. The primary
focus on the game should be recreational and for fun.
● Build Out Line
-The build out line promotes playing the ball out of the back in less
pressured setting
-When the goalkeeper has the ball, either during play
(from the opponent)or from a goal kick, the opposing
must move behind the build out line until the ball is put back into play.
-Once the opposing team is behind the build out line the goalkeeper can
pass, throw or roll the ball into play
-After the ball is put into play by goalkeeper, the opposing can cross the
build out line and play resumes as normal
● Offsides
-The build out line will also be used to denote where offside offenses can
be called.
-An offside cannot be called between the halfway line and the buildout line
-An offside can be called between the halfway line and the goal line
● Throw-in
-Throw-in when the ball has completely crossed the touchline(sideline)
-Throw-in is taken by opposite team that touched the ball last
-Throw-in is taken from where the ball left the field

-A goal may not be scored directly from a throw-in
-Player taking the throw-in may not touch the ball a second time again until
another player has touched the ball
● Goal Kick
-Attacking team has touched the ball last. The ball has completely crossed
the end line without scoring a goal
-The goalkeeper places the ball on the goal kick line marked on the field, in
the area in front of their goal
-The Ball is kicked forward or is passed to a teammate
● Corner Kick
-Defending team has touched the ball last, the ball has completely crossed
the endline without scoring a goal
-Attacking team places the ball at the corner of the side that the ball went
out on
-The player taking the corner may not touch the ball a second time until it is
touched by another player
● Substitutions
-Substitutions are unlimited and can occur at any stoppage
-Everytime there is a substitution the referee must be notify
● Uniform
-All players are required to be in there uniform(jersey,shorts and socks)
shin guards(socks must be worn on the outside and entirely cover the shin
guards)soccer cleats, no football or baseball cleats
● Safety
-No player may wear equipment dangerous to themselves or others. This
includes any type of jewelry, watches, bracelets

Basics

Please make sure your child has the following items when they come to the fields:

  1. Soccer Cleats (football and baseball cleats not allowed for safety reasons)
  2. Shin Guards (required for safety)
  3. Jersey (for game days)
  4. Water Bottle
